Richard Nelson’s Sorry, the third play in his Apple Family series, will extend its run at the Public Theater yet again, adding one additional week to its run. The play will now close on December 2, instead of the previously scheduled November 25 (which itself was extended from November 18).
The Public Lab production is set one year after the previous Apple family drama Sweet and Sad. Sorry finds the Apple family—Benjamin, Barbara, Marian, Richard and Jane—sharing a meal in Rhinebeck, New York on the day of the presidential election. The meal leads the family to have a spirited discussion about their personal and political feelings.
Sorry stars Jon DeVries, Maryann Plunkett, Laila Robins, Jay O. Sanders and J. Smith-Cameron and features scenic and costume design by Susan Hilferty, lighting design by Jennifer Tipton and sound design by Scott Lehrer and Will Pickens.
Sorry opened off-Broadway on November 6, the day that the show is set. The first two Apple Family plays, That Hopey Changey Thing and Sweet and Sad, were both set on the election nights of 2010 and 2011, respectively.
